Welcome to Pre-K!

The St. Mary Early Childhood Program is designed to provide a stimulating growth experience in a safe, nurturing environment and to promote the development of each child to his/her fullest potential through an education program permeated with Christian spiritual values.

Children are encouraged to develop their own uniqueness and abilities.  An atmosphere is created to encourage and promote cooperation, sharing, respect, independence, and caring.  Parent communication and involvement are frequent and ongoing.

-          Shining Stars PreKindergarten is for children age 4 by September 15 of the enrolled school year.

Parents can choose a morning or afternoon everyday program.

Classes are from 8:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m. and 12:25 p.m.-3:25 p.m.

A teacher and an associate work with each class.

The program is free to families due to the Iowa PreSchool Program.

*Learn how to cooperate in a classroom community

*Practice problem solving skills

*Experience activities in the areas of art, music and drama

*Identify letter names and letter sounds

*Write his or her own name

*Follow simple directions

*Develop gross motor skills

*Identify similarities and differences and match like objects

*Build listening skills through song, stories, and rhymes

*Demonstrate an understanding of uses of technology tools, computers and telephone
